Pharmacognosy and Natural Products

Pharmacognosy is the modern science of natural medicines; it is based on traditional medicines used in different parts of the world. The term Pharmacognosy is composed of two Greek words, i.e. pharmakon (a drug) and gignosco (to acquire knowledge of) or gnosis (knowledge) Thus, literally Pharmacognosy is to acquire knowledge of drugs.
